A GREEK INSPIRED WEDDING
We used fresh greens and white linens to invoke Greek imagery for this (Wisconsin Bride featured!) wedding.
Katrina and Kyle booked the lovely City Grill Bistro ballroom for their wedding before hiring us on. Once they hired us we hit the ground running to help plan their elegant and Grecian-inspired wedding reception. Katrina had a vision for her wedding day and we were so glad to help bring that vision to life!
The day of the wedding the stress level was a little higher than normal with the inclement weather; there were Tornado threats and wind had blown over trees, leaving some guests stuck in traffic wondering if they would even make it to the ceremony! Though nerve-wracking, it was sweet that when Katrina was worried she called Kyle and he instantly calmed her nerves. They really are such a loving and supportive pair.
The couple started the event off by reading letters from each other under their custom hashtag sign, while still ensuring they didn’t see each other. All the worry up to that point instantly dissolved as they read their partner’s words.
From there they headed to the ceremony at the Church of the Resurrection, umbrellas in tow. Katrina’s dad met her in the covered carport where he escorted her down the aisle. Cue the tears! Kyle was waiting at the altar in a classic black tux, anticipating Katrina’s arrival through the iron-laden wooden doors. The Catholic Church, with dome ceilings and ionic column structures, served as an homage to not only their faith, but to Katrina’s heritage as Greek Orthodox. We wove Greek elements throughout the wedding including urns with olive branches, greenery draping from the lights, and chiffon fabric billowing from the ceiling.
After the ceremony, a classic trolley took the wedding party to the Yawkey House museum where they had Greek-inspired portraits taken by the talented James Stokes photography. James shot their photos in the luscious garden as the rain relented. Afterwards, Time Keeper Distillery so graciously hosted the wedding party for a quick cocktail break. The train-depot-turned-industrial-chic-distillery crafted custom drinks that we had pre-ordered for the couple so the cocktails were waiting for them upon their arrival.
Afterward, Kyle and Katrina bypassed their guests to arrive at their wedding reception early so that they could have a shared moment in the reception space, and so Katrina could see her wedding day vision brought to life. Her reaction when she entered the room is literally why we do what we do. We could see how happy she was to see all her hard work brought to life. Katrina and Kyle’s Greek-inspired wedding was also featured in Wisconsin Bride Magazine. (Which makes sense since Katrina and Kyle are such a stunning couple!)
